Intro to Shibori- Learn to tie, clamp and dye with indigo!

In this class, we'll explore stitch-play, folding and clamping, and other ways to create unique designs on dip-dyed fabric and yarns in an indigo dyepot. You'll leave class with two finished pillowcases, some yarn to play with, and loads of ideas for continuing to explore shibori on your own, with any fabric and dye.  Come prepared to get a little messy, with clothes you can drip on, a towel, and dishwashing gloves.

Learn to Dye your own Sprinkle Yarn!.  With Ginny Tullock of Fat Cat Knits.  Sunday, August 28, 2016, 12-4 PM.  $65.00 ($25.00 holds your space).  Max=12 Students.

Sprinkle dyed sock yarn is all the rage right now- the random dye placement and high contrast make each skein unique and quite eye-catching. In this class you will learn how to dye yarn with this fun, intuitive method. You will leave with a skein or knitted blank (or more!) of yarn with colors you love, made by you :)

Class cost includes your choice of either one skein of superwash sock yarn, one skein of non-superwash chunky weight wool single ply yarn, or one knitted blank (superwash sock yarn). Additional yarns and blanks will be available for purchase.

Also included is access to a large variety of dye colors, and all equipment, materials and chemicals used in the process. Aprons, masks and gloves will be provided, but make sure to wear clothes you don't mind possibly staining.

Ginny Tullock of Fat Cat Knits

Ginny Tullock of Fat Cat Knits

Ginny Tullock has been dyeing spinning fiber and yarn professionally for 10 years now. It all started when she was diagnosed with acute spinning in September 2004. Prior to that, she had a serious knitting infection, which is still active, but considered to be chronic and no longer life-threatening. Ginny's yarn and fiber brand, FatCatKnits, is named in honor of Ginny's constant companion, the previously very fat cat, Slushie.  Even in her old age, Slushie is always at Ginny's side, enabling (or hampering) all fiber expression. You will find loads of spinning fiber and yarn at FatCatKnits.com. The FatCatKnits Ravelry group is very welcoming and a lot of fun, come and join us. Ginny is fatcatknitsdyer on Instagram, where you can follow her spinning, dyeing, and cat-related antics.
